The Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Airlangga (FF UNAIR) recently attended the 10th Regional Conference (MUSDA X) of the Indonesian Cosmetic Companies Association (PERKOSMI) for the East Java region. The event took place on Tuesday, June 6, 2026, at the Hotel Mercure, Surabaya.
FF UNAIR was represented by the Vice Dean III, Apt. Elida Zairina, S.Si., MPH., PhD., FISQua. The partnership between the two institutions has been solidified through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that focuses on cosmetic research, regulatory development, and the commercialization (hilirisasi) of innovative research products developed at FF UNAIR.
The theme for this year's conference was “Building an Innovative, Digital, and Sustainable Cosmetic Industry in Responding to Today's Global Changes.” As of 2026, the association oversees 139 member companies, ranging from cosmetic manufacturers and distributors to suppliers.
The proceedings began with reports and opening remarks from the Chairman of PERKOSMI East Java, Danny Wibisono, followed by an address from the Central Chairman of PERKOSMI, Sancoko Antarikso. The Head of the Surabaya Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM), Yudi Noviandi, M.Sc. Tech., Apt., was also in attendance to deliver opening remarks.
Following the opening session, the conference proceeded with the first and second Plenary Sessions. A key objective of this regional meeting was the formation and election of the new board for PERKOSMI East Java for the 2026–2030 term.
Through this active participation, FF UNAIR reaffirms its commitment to supporting the growth of the local cosmetic industry, ensuring it remains rooted in scientific research, compliant with regulations, and adaptable to global digital advancements.
