FF UNAIR Conducts Workshop on AI and OBE-Based Course Syllabus Development to Strengthen Learning Quality

FF UNAIR organized a workshop on Course Syllabus Development (RPS) on July 28-29, 2026, at the auditorium of the NANI Building, Campus C UNAIR.

This activity was part of the faculty’s strategic efforts to improve learning quality through the development of course syllabi that align with the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) approach and utilization of learning technology based on artificial intelligence (AI) system modelling. The workshop was attended by all FF UNAIR lecturers involved in course syllabus development and curriculum development.

On the first day, participants received material presentations from Prof. Dr. Ir. Syamsul Arifin, M.T. from Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS). In his session titled “Learning Design and Course Syllabus Development according to Curriculum Standards using the OBE Approach,” Prof. Syamsul explained the importance of transforming course syllabus development to accommodate digital technology developments without disregarding graduate learning outcomes. He also explained how AI can be utilized as a support in the process of designing more effective, structured learning that is oriented toward future needs.

In addition to featuring a speaker from ITS, this workshop also involved the Team of the Center for Innovation in Education and Learning Technology (PIPTP) UNAIR. The PIPTP team provided guidance regarding the implementation of academic policies and utilization of various platforms and learning technologies that support course syllabus development according to university standards. The interactive discussions that took place provided an opportunity for lecturers to dialogue about challenges and strategies in developing innovative and student-oriented learning.

Entering the second day, the activity focused on Independent Practice in Filing Out and Updating Course Syllabi. In this session, participants directly prepared and updated their respective course syllabus documents by implementing the concepts and standards learned on the previous day. The support team also provided feedback and evaluation to ensure each course syllabus meets OBE principles and can appropriately integrate the use of AI technology in the learning process.

Through this workshop, all lecturers became more prepared to deliver innovative, adaptive learning processes oriented toward student learning outcomes. Quality course syllabus development is expected to support the creation of graduates who are excellent, competitive, and capable of addressing challenges in the development of knowledge, technology, and the needs of the world of work in the era of digital transformation
