FF UNAIR once again demonstrated its role at the international level through the active participation of two of its lecturers as poster presenters at the 20th World Congress of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology (WCP 2026). This prestigious world pharmacology conference took place on July 12-17, 2026, at the Melbourne Convention Centre, Australia, and was organized by the Australasian Society of Clinical and Experimental Pharmacologists and Toxicologist (ASCEPT) in collaboration with the International Union of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology (IUPHAR). This form brought together scientists, academics, clinicians, and researchers from various countries to share the latest developments in basic, clinical, and translational pharmacology.
The two lecturers representing FF UNAIR in this scientific forum were apt. Mahardian Rahmadi, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D., serving as Vice Dean II, and apt. Chrismawan Ardianto, S.Farm., M.Sc., Ph.D., Coordinator of the Bachelor of Pharmacy Study Program. Both presented their research findings to the international scientific community through poster sessions while expanding research collaboration networks with researchers from various institutions worldwide.
Dr. Mahardian Rahmadi presented research titled, “EGCG Attenuates Lipogenesis with Limited Autophagy Restoration in MASLD-induced Mice.” This research examined the potential of EGCG in suppressing the lipogenesis process in a mouse model with Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD), while also evaluating its effects on the restoration of autophagy mechanism.
Meanwhile, Dr. Chrismawan Ardianto presented research titled, “The Modulation of Striatal and Hippocampal Neurocircuitry on Stroke Recovery by EPO.” This research explored the role of erythropoietin (EPO) in modulating neural circuits in the striatal and hippocampal areas as an approach to enhance post-stroke recovery processes. These findings have the potential to open opportunities for the development of neuroprotection-based therapy to improve the quality of life for stroke patients.
The participation of both FF UNAIR lecturers in WCP 2026 reflects support for the realization of SDGs 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through the development of research that contributes to improving public health, as well as SDGs 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through strengthening international scientific collaboration networks among academics and researchers from various countries.
