The Faculty of Pharmacy, Airlangga University (FF UNAIR), held a Scholarly Research and Writing Workshop Series on December 15, 2025. The event took place in the Nanizar Zaman Joenoes Building Hall and was attended by participants from various universities throughout Indonesia.
The Scholarly Research and Writing Workshop Series is an academic forum designed to provide a platform for learning, sharing, and practicing in preparation for postgraduate studies, as well as providing training for active Master's and Doctoral students. Through this forum, participants not only received strategic materials related to research and scientific writing but also had the opportunity to discuss directly with facilitators from within and outside the country.
The event featured six speakers who are experts in their fields. The opening session was delivered by apt. Andi Hermansyah, S.Farm., M.Sc., Ph.D., a lecturer at FF UNAIR and Head of the Department of Practical Pharmacy, who explained the general overview and objectives of the event. Next, apt. Elida Zairina, S.Si., MPH., Ph.D., FISQua., Vice Dean III of Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmacy UNAIR, presented a presentation entitled "Life as a Graduate Student," which examined the dynamics and challenges of postgraduate student life.
International speakers also enriched the participants' insights. Goh Poh Hui, Ph.D., from the PAPRSB Institute of Health Sciences, Universiti Brunei Darussalam, presented "Common Mistakes in Research Writing and Ways to Avoid Them." Meanwhile, "Writing an Effective Pharmacy Practice Research Proposal" was presented by Assoc. Prof. Mohd Shahezwan Abd Wahab, Ph.D., from Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia.
Abdelhakim Bouyahya, Ph.D., from Mohammed V University in Rabat, Morocco, presented a strategic topic on scientific publication, "The Road to Publication: Effective Manuscript Preparation and Journal Targeting." The closing session discussed statistical analysis and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in pharmaceutical practice research through the topic "A Beginner's Guide to Statistical Analysis in Pharmacy Practice Research and the Use of AI for Research," presented by apt. Sherly Meilianti, M.Sc., Ph.D., FHEA., RSS Data Analyst from Robert Gordon University, England, and Ferdian Jovan, Ph.D. from the University of Aberdeen.
Through this activity, the Faculty of Pharmacy UNAIR hopes to improve the academic capacity of postgraduate students in compiling research proposals, writing scientific manuscripts, and preparing publications in reputable international journals. This workshop also demonstrates FF UNAIR's commitment to supporting a collaborative, inclusive, and globally oriented academic atmosphere.
