The faculty of Pharmacy at FF UNAIR hosted the SMART CPKB and PATRIOTISME programs organized by the Agency for Drug and Food Control (BPOM) of the Republic of Indonesia on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. Held at the Nanizar Zaman Joenoes (NANI) Building, Campus C UNAIR, this activity served as a strategic platform to strengthen synergy between higher education institutions and regulators in supporting research implementation and enhancing understanding of regulations in the fields of natural medicine drugs, health supplements, and cosmetics.
The series of activities began with Socialization and Technical Guidance (Bimtek) on BPOM Regulation Number 8 of 2026 concerning Certification of Good Cosmetic Manufacturing Practices (CPKB). Through this activity, participants gained understanding regarding the standards and requirements that must be met in the cosmetic production process to ensure quality, safety, and the quality of products produced.
Additionally, BPOM also presented the Program for Enhancement of Regulatory Literacy in the Fields of Natural Medicine Drugs, Quasi Drugs, Health supplements, and Cosmetics (PATRIOTISME). This program was designed to expand the knowledge of academics, researchers, and industrial partners regarding various current regulations related to the development and commercialization of health products.
Dean of the FF UNAIR, Prof. Apt. Dewi Melani Hariyadi, S.Si., M.Phil., Ph.D., expressed appreciation for BPOM’s presence and emphasized the importance of collaboration between higher education institutions and regulators. According to her, this synergy can serve as a bridge for research results within the campus environment so they can develop into products with benefits and competitiveness in society.
This activity was directly attended by Apt. Mohamad Kashuri, S.Si., M.Farm., Deputy for the Supervision of Traditional Medicine, Health Supplements and Cosmetics at BPOM RI, who is also an alumni of FF UNAIR. His presence became a moment that strengthened the relationship between the alma mater and its alumni who now contribute at the national level.
Also present at the activity were Apt. Dian Putri Anggraweni, S.Si., M.Farm., as Director of Standardization and Imelda Ester Riana P., S.T., M.K.M., Director of Registration of Traditional Medicine, Health Supplement, and Cosmetics at BPOM RI. These BPOM officials provided various information related to policies, standardization processes, and product registration mechanisms that are important aspects in supporting innovation implementation.
As a form of technical support, participants also attended a simulation on the use of the BRIDGE feature developed by BPOM. This activity included a coaching clinic on BRIDGE feature usage, verification and selection processes, and presentation of selection results through the system. This session provided an opportunity for participants to directly understand the utilization of digital platforms in supporting the process of submitting and managing various regulatory services.
Through the implementation of the SMART CPKB and PATRIOTISME programs, FF UNAIR and BPOM are committed to continuing to strengthen collaboration in supporting the development of research-based health products. It is hoped that this activity will accelerate the process of research implementation, improve compliance with regulations, and produce products that are safe, of high quality, and beneficial to the wider society.
The implementation of this activity also aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 9 on Industry, Innovation, and infrastructure through strengthening the innovation ecosystem and implementation of health products, as well as SDG 17 on partnership for the Goals, realized through close collaboration between higher education institutions and national regulators.
