In 2026, the Faculty of Pharmacy at Universitas Airlangga (FF UNAIR) once again organized an international-scale event, the International Conference of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ICPHS) 2026. The event took place on June 20, 2026, at the Nani Building, UNAIR Campus C, and was attended by 117 participants from various countries, including Malaysia, India, Pakistan, China, and Indonesia.
The conference served as a platform for academics, researchers, practitioners, and students to exchange ideas, present the latest research findings, and build collaborations to address the various evolving challenges in the fields of pharmacy and health in the digital era.
The Chairman of ICPHS 2026, apt. Muhammad Faris Adrianto, S.Farm., M.Farm., Ph.D., extended a warm welcome to all participants while explaining the theme of this year's conference.
“ICPHS 2026 carries the theme ‘Shaping the Future of Pharmacy and Health Sciences through Digital Innovation.’ This theme reflects the rapid changes in pharmacy and healthcare, where digital technology, artificial intelligence, big data, and computational approaches are increasingly important in research, drug development, pharmaceutical services, regulation, and health systems,” said Faris.
The theme reflects the major transformation currently occurring in the pharmacy and health sectors. The utilization of digital technology, artificial intelligence, big data analysis, and computational approaches has now become an essential element in supporting research innovation, drug development, pharmaceutical services, regulation, and more effective and sustainable health systems.
The conference featured a number of international experts who shared their insights and experiences during plenary sessions. In the first plenary session, participants received presentations from Prof. Teruna Siahaan (University of Kansas, USA), Prof. Helmy Yusuf (Universitas Airlangga, Indonesia), and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jane Gew Lai Ti (Sunway University, Malaysia).
The second plenary session featured Dr. Sugimoto Sachiko (Juntendo University, Japan), Prof. Yashwant V. Pathak (University of South Florida, USA), and Dr. Cao Liang (Hunan University of Medicine, China). In the final plenary session, participants gained additional perspectives from Dr. Ario Bimo (Putra University, Malaysia) and Dr. Ganesh Sritheran (Taylor’s University, Malaysia).
The holding of ICPHS 2026 aligns with efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. Through this international scientific forum, participants collectively discussed various innovations and recent developments with the potential to improve the quality of global public health. Furthermore, the presence of academics, researchers, and practitioners from various countries serves as a tangible manifestation of strengthened international partnerships in education, research, and knowledge development, thereby fostering the creation of collaborative solutions to meet future health challenges.
