On October 7, 2025, the community service team from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Airlangga University (FF UNAIR), in collaboration with Airlangga University Hospital (RS UNAIR), traveled to Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan, to conduct various outreach programs for social care homes. Led by Prof. Dr. apt. Yulistiani, the FF UNAIR community service team provided education on all the important things to consider when taking medications. The activity took place at the Budi Sejahtera Social Protection and Rehabilitation Center for the Elderly (PPRSLU).
The counselors presented engaging material to help the elderly increase their awareness of the risk of falls when taking certain medications. After the presentation, the team distributed personal care supplies and walking aids to the nursing home residents. "Hopefully, with this program, you will be more enthusiastic, healthier, and more physically fit," said Prof. Yulistiani when asked about her hopes for the program's conclusion.
Prof. Yulistiani added that she believes the presence of the UNAIR Faculty of Pharmacy team, all pharmacists, can improve the residents' understanding of medication use and the importance of taking them regularly. The team will continue to demonstrate the enthusiasm of the pharmacy staff in supporting the state's program for caring for the elderly. This is a form of dharma (charity) and dedication to the Indonesian nation.
This activity strongly reflects UNAIR Faculty of Pharmacy's support for the realization of SDGs 3, "Good Health and Well-being."
