From year to year, the Faculty of Pharmacy, Airlangga University (FF UNAIR) regularly holds community service activities. On Monday (29/7/2024) the FF UNAIR community service team departed from Tuban to Surabaya to provide counseling regarding food production. This outreach activity was carried out in the Aster Room of the P2KB Health Office, Tuban, East Java.
At that time the participants looked enthusiastic and had been present since morning filling the area where the counseling was being held. The counseling was attended by micro and small business actors as well as TP-PKK with the aim of increasing knowledge about food safety and halal food. This activity was held in order to maintain SDGs 3 "Good Health and Well Being".
Prof. Dr. apt. Juni Ekowati, M.Sc. who is the Chair of this activity, explained how important it is to empower the Tuban community so that they can produce processed food that is high quality, safe and halal.
In this counseling, participants received four materials. The first material was delivered by Prof. Dr.rer.nat. apt. Mochammad Yuwono, M.S, who discussed aspects of quality, safety and good production methods for processed food. Next, it was Prof. Juni Ekowati who explained how to choose safe and halal food packaging. Then in the third material, Adistiar Payoga, S.E., M.E., explained about free halal certification for micro and small businesses. Meanwhile, in the last material, education was provided regarding simple practical test training for qualitative analysis of borax and formaldehyde in food samples delivered by apt. Ethics.
Prof. Juni Ekowati also explained at that time that FF UNAIR plans to continue to collaborate in developing superior products in Tuban Regency by providing assistance starting from selecting raw materials to the sales process.
"In the future, we will provide assistance starting from how to select raw materials, then the production process is safe, high quality and halal. "Until then, what is the process of increasing sales," he explained.
