HISTORY

Apotek Farmasi Airlangga was inaugurated on August 29, 1998, and was built on a 384 m² plot of land owned by Universitas Airlangga, with a building area of 135 m² spanning two floors. The construction funding was sourced from Universitas Airlangga, the Faculty of Pharmacy Universitas Airlangga, IKOMA contributions, donations from Faculty of Pharmacy Universitas Airlangga alumni, and other participating institutions. In 2006, the Apotek Farmasi Airlangga building was renovated into a new two-story facility, where the second floor serves as a practicum room for the Faculty of Pharmacy Universitas Airlangga. On March 26, 2016, Apotek Farmasi Airlangga relocated to the Airlangga Corner Building on Jalan Dharmawangsa No. 1, Surabaya, which remains its current location.

BACKGROUND

The underlying background for establishing the pharmacy is to enhance the capabilities of pharmacists graduating from the Faculty of Pharmacy Universitas Airlangga, particularly their professional competence. As a primary site for a pharmacist's professional dedication, the pharmacy environment must be thoroughly understood by prospective pharmacists, given that the majority of graduates will practice in pharmacies. Therefore, an Educational Pharmacy is required to train future pharmacists, producing high-quality graduates whose skills align with the demands of the professional workforce.

Apotek Farmasi Airlangga is the first Educational Pharmacy established in Indonesia. As an Educational Pharmacy, Apotek Farmasi Airlangga operates under the motto "No Pharmacist No Service", ensuring that whenever the pharmacy is open, a pharmacist is always present and responsible for the pharmaceutical care provided. Since its inception, the Managing Pharmacist of Apotek Farmasi Airlangga was Drs. Suko Hardjono, MS, Apt., followed by Yunita N, S.Si, MPharm, Apt., and currently, Ayek Dwi Rosiana, S.Farm., Apt. serves as the Pharmacist-in-Charge. At present, services at the pharmacy are delivered by 4 Pharmacists, 2 Pharmacy Assistants, 2 Prescription Clerks, and 1 cleaning staff member.

OBJECTIVES and BENEFITS

The objectives of establishing this educational pharmacy are as follows:

1. A training site for pharmacist education students, intended to serve as an exemplary model for prospective pharmacists and other practicing pharmacists.
   
2. A platform for community service by providing accurate information and acting as a reference point for information for pharmacists and other healthcare professionals.
   
3. A facility for conducting research in the field of Community Pharmacy.
   
4. A center for providing pharmaceutical services to the community that can generate revenue.
