Faculty of Pharmacy Universitas Airlangga's Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences organized Community Services Webinar titled "Correct Application of Traditional Medicine Against COVID-19" on 5th of December, 2021. This webinar was aimed at invited participants in a zoom meeting. The purpose of this webinar is to provide information on medicibal herbs that can be used to fight COVID-19 and how to make them to the teachers, and parents of the Islamic Boarding House of Luqman Al Hakim, Surabaya. After the event, it is expected that the participants can better select and apply traditional medicine as presented by the speakers, which must be based on literatures and not just from "hearsay".
The event was hosted by Rice Disi Oktarina, S.Farm., M.Farm., serving as both master of ceremony and moderator and and opened by apt. apt. Rr. Retno Widyowati, S.Si., M.Pharm., Ph.D. as the Secretary of Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Continued by a greeting from Luqman Al-Hakim School, Surabaya representative, Mrs. Masfufah, M.A. Afterwards,a pre-test was held before the presentation. The two contents of the webinar was presented by Dr. apt. Wiwied Ekasari, M.Si. titled "The Right Medicinal Plants to Fight Covid-19" and apt. Neny Purwitasari, S.Farm., M.Sc. titled "Good Manufacturing of Traditional Medicine to Fight Covid-19"

On the first subject presented that some herbs can be used to boost immunity during Covid-19 pandemic, amongst those are: Andrographis paniculata, Phyllanthus niruri, Ginger, Curcuma, Turmeric, and Guava. On the second subject, the presenter presented how to process traditional medicinal using 2 methods, infusion and decoction. Infustion was don to ekstract herbs using water with a temperature of 90°C for 15 minuts and decoction uses the same method, but longer (20-30 minutes).
After both speakers presented their subjects, the session then continued with QA session. The partipants' enthusiasm was apperent by the number of questiones raised. Afterwards, a post-test was held. Before the event ended, there was a doorprize session with a book written by Dr. apt. Wiwied Ekasari, M.Si. as a prize.
