FF UNAIR and Dexa Discuss Preclinical Research on Guava Extract: Synergy Between Academia and Industry

FF UNAIR held a meeting with Dexa on Monday, October 26, 2026, to discuss a planned research collaboration on teratogenicity testing in animal models for Psidium guajava extract preparation products. The activity was conducted online via Zoom Meeting and proceeded smoothly.

This research collaboration aims to obtain scientific support regarding the effects of Psidium guajava extract preparation products manufactured by the First Party, particularly based on animal testing. The research is expected to provide relevant scientific data as part of product safety evaluation.

Teratogenicity testing is a preclinical assessment conducted to evaluate the potential of a substance or product to cause disruption to embryonic or fetal development during pregnancy. Through this research, testing is expected to provide the scientific information needed to understand the safety profile of Psidium guajava extract preparation products.

The meeting between FF UNAIR and Dexa served as an initial step in discussing the implementation of the research collaboration, including testing requirements and necessary scientific support. The collaboration between a higher education institution and a pharmaceutical company also reflects the importance of synergy in developing evidence-based research.

Through this collaboration, the Faculty of Pharmacy UNAIR continues to promote strengthened partnerships with industry partners to support research and product development activities. This effort aligns with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 3, Good Health and Well-being, through support for research contributing to understanding product safety, and SDG 9, Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, through strengthening research partnerships between higher education and industry.
