FF UNAIR Launches Four Innovative Cosmetic Products with PUI-PT SCT on 63rd Anniversary

FF UNAIR together with the PUI-PT Health Dermatology and Cosmetic Technology ( Skin and Cosmetic Technology (SCT) Centre of Excellent ) called PUI-PT SCT officially launched four innovative cosmetic products as part of the celebration of FF UNAIR’s 63rd Anniversary. The launch event took place on September 20, 2026, at the courtyard of the Universitas Airlangga Management Office, Campus C UNAIR.

The product launch represented an important milestone in the celebration of FF UNAIR’s 63rd anniversary and served as concrete evidence of FF UNAIR and PUI-PT SCT’s commitment to promoting the implementation of research results into innovative products that can be utilized by society.

The four cosmetic products officially launched were NLC Astrabright Advanced Anti-Aging Serum, Sains4Skin Ultra Hydrating Body Soap, Sains4Skin Astrabright Facial Wash, and Sains4Skin Q10 Radiant Sun Shield. All four products resulted from innovation in cosmetic technology and have obtained marketing authorization from the Food and Drug Administration (BPOM) as well as halal certification.

PUI-PT SCT UNAIR Chair, Prof. Dr. apt. Tristiana Erawati Munandar, M.Si., explained that these innovation products were developed by utilizing nanostructured lipid carrier (NLC) technology and Coenzyme Q10 antioxidant content.

According to Prof. Tristiana, this technology development was based on the challenge of delivering active ingredients into the skin. Active ingredients with antioxidant activity often face obstacles in penetrating skin layers, necessitating a delivery system that can help enhance penetration.

"Antioxidant active ingredients often have difficulty penetrating skin layers. Therefore, the NLC system was developed to optimize active ingredient penetration," explained Prof. Tristiana.

The use of NLC technology represented one form of strengthening FF UNAIR and PUI-PT SCT research results in developing cosmetic formulations that consider not only innovation aspects but also safety, effectiveness, stability, and user acceptance.

The launch of these four products simultaneously demonstrated the sustainability of the research implementation process conducted by FF UNAIR with PUI-PT SCT. Research results developed within the academic environment are then directed to produce products that meet standards and can reach society more broadly.

FF UNAIR's 63rd Anniversary served as a strategic venue to introduce this achievement to academic community members and society. The presence of these innovative cosmetic products is expected to strengthen FF UNAIR's contribution to national cosmetic technology development and promote the utilization of higher education research results into products of practical value.

This product launch aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure. The development and launch of cosmetics products based on research results reflected FF UNAIR's efforts in promoting technology innovation, strengthening the research and development ecosystem, and accelerating the implementation of higher education research results into innovative products that can be utilized by society. The application of NLC technology in cosmetics development represents one form of implementing knowledge-based innovation to support the advancement of a competitive cosmetics industry.
