The International Conference of Integrated Intellectual Community (ICONIC) 2016 is an international conference held by PPI Jerman (Indonesian Students Association) in cooperation with I4 (International Indonesian Scientists’ Association), Indonesian Scholar (IS) Journal, General Consulate of the Republic of Indonesia – Hamburg, and Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia – Berlin. ICONIC 2016 brought up the topic of "Industrial Revival: Optimizing Strategy on Business, Government and Education.”
To participate, participants were required to submit abstracts in accordance with the topic of discussion. We submitted a full paper in English, which got accepted. Accepted papers would be published in the Indonesian Scholar Journal. This event is a means for scholars, professionals, and students to share their ideas to be applied for the development of human life and national progress of Indonesia.
The international scientific conference started on Saturday 29 October 2016 until Monday 32 October 2016 in the Technische Universitat Hamburg-Harburg (TUHH), Hamburg, Gemany. Participants came from diverse universities, from German institutions to several universities in Indonesia. The event was held in three parts, namely speech from the keynote speaker, poster presentations and oral presentations, and finally the Awarding Night.
The speech marking the opening of the event was delivered by the Indonesian Ambassador to Germany, Fauzi Bowo. Afterwards, Prof. B.J. Habibie and the Indonesian Minister of Industry Ir. Habi Assidiq each give a speech. On the second day, Sunday 30 October 2016, three keynote speakers gave their speeches. Those distinguished guests were the Chair of the National Research Council Dr. Ir. Bambang Setiadi, economist Faisal Basri, MA., and Faculty of Pharmacy UNAIR representative Dr. rer. nat. Ahmad Saufi who gave an oral presentation of his paper titled “Application of Combined System (Phytoremediation And Desalination) as Sea Water Purification Method for Coastal People.” The conference was closed with the Awarding Night and Gala Dinner at the Indonesian Consulate in Hamburg, Germany.
