
Faculty of Pharmacy Expert Team Evaluates Feasibility of Downstreaming UNAIR Seaweed Capsule Shell Teaching Industry
The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Airlangga (FF UNAIR), participated in a visit by a team of experts to evaluate the feasibility and readiness of the downstreaming process at the Airlangga University Seaweed Capsule Shell Teaching Industry on October 25–26, 2025.
This activity aimed to assess the technical, academic, and industrial readiness of the downstreaming process of research results into commercially valuable products. In this activity, a team of experts from FF UNAIR uamh were present, namely Prof. Dra. apt. Esti Hendradi, M.Si., Ph.D. and Mr. apt. Andang Miatmoko, S.Farm., M.Pharm.Sci., Ph.D. Both of them also provided input regarding aspects of formulation, stability, and product development potential.
This visit was also attended by the Team Leader, namely Prof. Pratiwi, along with other members who play a role in assessing the readiness of production facilities, human resources, and the Teaching Industry management plan. Through discussions and field visits, the team evaluated various important aspects, starting from seaweed raw materials, the extraction process, capsule shell production, to the quality control system that will be implemented.
The results of this visitation are expected to be an important basis in strengthening the synergy between the academic world and industry, as well as encouraging the realization of the Seaweed Capsule Shell Teaching Industry as a concrete form of implementation of research downstreaming within the Airlangga University environment.
