BEM FF UNAIR Plants Toga Plants with Residents to Support SDGs 15
BEM Faculty of Pharmacy, Airlangga University (FF UNAIR) never stops creating programs that are useful for society and support the SDGs. One of the programs being implemented is Community Development (Comdev) 2024. One of the series of activities and closing of Comdev 2024 is planting Family Medicinal Plants (TOGA).
TOGA planting activities will be carried out on September 22 2024 and will be held at Bulak Cumpat Barat 3 and 4 Surabaya. The residents of West Bulak Cupat seem enthusiastic about planting TOGA. Activities started at 10 am starting with health education about hypertension. Then proceed with planting toga (or medicinal plants) which have many benefits that support the 15th Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely "Life on Land". Through this TOGA planting activity, BEM FF UNAIR plays an active role in preserving biodiversity, helping maintain the diversity of plant and animal species, and creating habitats that support local ecosystems.
By planting TOGA, soil quality will improve. As we know, these plants can improve soil structure and add nutrients, thus supporting sustainable agriculture. In addition, strong plant roots also help bind the soil, reduce erosion and maintain soil stability. Apart from that, planting TOGA can improve public health and reduce dependence on chemical drugs
Not to forget, the Comdev 2024 team urges residents to continue to care for TOGA plants which have various benefits for health and the ecosystem.
