5 FF UNAIR Students Participate in International Attachment Program at IIUM Malaysia
Faculty of Pharmacy, Airlangga University (FF UNAIR) held an International Attachment program which was attended by 5 students. This program aims to broaden students' horizons and increase their experience globally as well as prepare students to become superior graduates before contributing directly to society.
The International Attachment Program will be held for 2 weeks starting from 11 August 2024 to 25 August 2024. This activity can be carried out thanks to the collaboration between Universitas Airlangga and IIUM (International Islamic University Malaysia). A total of 5 students took part in this program and will carry out internships in the community pharmacy field at Alpro Pharmacy Sdn Bhd. Alpro Pharmacy is one of the largest pharmaceutical retail companies in Malaysia. Of the 5 students, 2 of them will carry out internships at Alpro Pharmacy Indera Mahkota, 2 people at Alpro Pharmacy Tun Ismail, and 1 person at Alpro Pharmacy Bukit Setongkol.
Activities started on Monday, August 12 2024, which opened with remarks and briefing by Dr. Muhammad Taufiq bin Mohd Jailani (Deputy Dean of Kulliyyah of Pharmacy, IIUM) for the arrival of 5 students from Airlangga University. Then continued with mobilization to each Alpro Pharmacy as well as an introduction to the purpose of the students' arrival by Dr. Taufiq to each preceptor. Student internships at Alpro Pharmacy Sdn Bhd are held every Monday to Friday from 09.00 to 17.45 (MYT).
Student internship activities include observations regarding available medicines, medical devices and products, arrangement and storage, recording and reporting, distribution, as well as clinical pharmacy services carried out by pharmacists. Apart from that, students can also compare the differences in the management of pharmaceutical preparations and medical devices, as well as clinical pharmaceutical services with those in Indonesia, especially regarding the differences in regulations that apply in Malaysia and Indonesia.
Students also learn about receiving incoming goods, compounding, repacking tablet preparations, helping carry out health check services available at Alpro Pharmacy, and welcoming customers who come with complaints and then forward them to the pharmacist on duty. Students are very enthusiastic because this is something new and interesting because it can provide new ideas and insights from what they have learned previously at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Airlangga University. In the future, hopefully the collaboration between FF Unair and KoP IIUM will continue well so that future students can continue to take part in the International Attachment program. With all the new insights and ideas, it is hoped that FF Unair can continue to produce superior pharmacist graduates while contributing directly to society.
