Pharmaday as a Campaign and Effort to Improve Knowledge about Cosmetic Products

To be beautiful is a dream for every woman. According to the common beauty standard, beauty itself is identical with having white or bright skin color. This makes women competing in whitening and brightening both face and body skins. A lot of efforts have been made to use of both whitening and skin lightening products, such as creams and lotions. The large demand for the products causes the person for being irresponsible for counterfeiting or adding hazardous substances into them.

In an effort to prevent side effects or unwanted effects due to the use of skin whitening and skin lightening products, group D-3 of Community Pharmacy, consisting of thirteen students of the Faculty of Pharmacy UNAIR conducted a health promotion. This health promotion aims to increase public knowledge about the selection and use of skin whitening and skin lightening products.

This activity was held on Wednesday (11/28-2019) around the Health Service Center (PLK) in Campus C UNAIR. This health promotion activity took place lively. Lasting for three hours starting at four in the afternoon, this activity succeeded in attracting the enthusiasm of UNAIR academicians.

By using the banner as a health promotion media, group D-5 presents a series of activities including an explanation of the safe and dangerous content of the product, product displays, limits on the use of the product after opening, check the legality of the product and end with questions that must be resolved by participants. Every participant who successfully answers correctly will be given a prize.

Media selection the banner This aims to provide more information and active participants ask questions about the products used in cosmetics. It is hoped that with this activity, public knowledge about cosmetic products will increase. With more information available, people can choose and use cosmetics products correctly.
