FF UNAIR Receives a Visit from PT. Archentara Bio Ingredients Indonesia and GGGI to Discuss Red Fruit Oil Development

The Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Airlangga (FF UNAIR) received a visit from PT. Archentara Bio Ingredients Indonesia and the Global Green Growth Institute on Thursday, March 5, 2026. The meeting took place in the Main Meeting Room of the Nanizar Zaman Joenoes Building, Campus C, Airlangga University.

The event was attended by FF UNAIR leaders and the Chair and members of the PUI-PT Skin Health and Cosmetic Technology (PUI-PT SCT) UNAIR. This meeting served as the initial momentum for exploring strategic collaboration opportunities in the development of Indonesian natural ingredients, particularly red fruit oil, a plant endemic to West Papua and Southwest Papua.

During the discussion, both parties discussed plans for collaboration related to the development and standardization of red fruit oil as a potential raw material for cosmetic and skincare products. Red fruit oil is known to contain various bioactive compounds that have the potential to be utilized in the health and beauty industry.

In this planned collaboration, FF UNAIR and PUI-PT SCT UNAIR will play a role in various aspects of research and development. These roles include material characterization testing, the extraction process, and testing the scientific content of red fruit oil. In addition, the research team will assist in the development of additional formulas to optimize the resulting product.

Furthermore, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Airlangga (FF UNAIR) and PUI-PT SCT UNAIR will also provide scientific certification as a form of product authentication. This is expected to increase consumer confidence in the red fruit oil-based products being developed. Furthermore, the academic team will also provide scientific assistance to PT. Archentara Bio Ingredients Indonesia and the Global Green Growth Institute throughout the development process.

Through this collaboration, it is hoped that the potential of Indonesia's biological resources, particularly the red fruit plant from Papua, can be developed into innovative and competitive high-value-added products, particularly in the form of natural-based cosmetics and skincare products. This collaboration between academia and industry aligns with SDG 17 "partnership for the goals."
