Supporting SDGs 3, UNAIR Pharmacy Students Participate in Pharmaceutical Services Exposure Activities in Thailand

From January 12–21, 2026, students from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Airlangga (FF UNAIR), M. Afzaala, Dini Valerina, Nur Abbyana, Nur Annisa Puteri, Muhammad N. Hareez, Izmel Harith, Luvena Navelyn, and Khanaya Angelie participated in a pharmaceutical services exposure activity at the Pharmacy Store (Community Pharmacy), Rangsit University, Thailand. This activity was part of the International Community Service Program (KKN).

The pharmaceutical services exposure aimed to introduce the community pharmacy service system as the frontline of primary healthcare services. Furthermore, the activity also strengthened the students' role in community development and empowerment through education on proper medication use.

During the activity, the FF UNAIR students learned about the flow of prescription and non-prescription services, drug classification, inventory management, and the A-MED Care System-based recording system. They also directly observed the role of pharmacists in educating patients about proper medication use, adherence to therapy, and preventing side effects.

In addition to the observation activities, students also created educational posters on drug information, which were then presented to pharmacists and pharmacy staff as a form of academic contribution and a means of strengthening scientific communication skills.

"We learned that pharmaceutical care is not just about dispensing medication, but also about ensuring patients understand the therapy they are undergoing," said one student.

This activity also provided insight into Thailand's health insurance system, such as the Universal Coverage Scheme, Social Security Scheme, and Civil Servants Scheme, allowing students to compare pharmaceutical care systems in Thailand and Indonesia.

Through this activity, students not only improved their professional competencies in the field of pharmacy but also contributed to supporting the improvement of the quality of public health services through the role of community pharmacies, which aligns with SDG 3 "Good Health and Well-being."
