FF UNAIR Students Conduct Research at Hoshi University, Japan

The Faculty of Pharmacy, Airlangga University (FF UNAIR) has collaborated with various best universities in the world, one of which is Hoshi University, Japan. Through this collaboration, FF UNAIR and Hoshi University often hold important agendas, one of which is research collaboration.

Fawaz Sihab, an undergraduate student class of 2020, spent one month conducting research activities at Hoshi University. To be precise, from February 28 to March 29 2024, he carried out research on synthetic organic chemistry, namely the synthesis of new compounds to be tested for antiangiogenesis activity.

During his research at Hoshi University, Fawaz said that he gained various new experiences that were fun and able to support the final assignment he was working on.

"Apart from getting new experiences where the lab is different, the atmosphere is different, I also get new skills such as using NMR, MS, and also get new insights regarding research on drug synthesis and supporting the final assignment that I am working on," he said.

He also explained that FF UNAIR's support really helped him. Because by becoming an FF UNAIR student who collaborates with various world-class universities, he can gain this experience. Apart from that, he also managed to obtain support for administrative and financial permits, which were not easy, with help from FF UNAIR.

This program is a form of FF UNAIR's involvement in supporting SDGs 17 Partnerships for the goals. The collaboration between FF UNAIR and Hoshi University is able to improve the quality of education and teaching for FF UNAIR students who will later be deployed to the community as reliable pharmacists to handle the quality of public health.
