FF UNAIR Participates in Focus Group Discussion on Strategies to Improve the Quality of Public Information and Public Relations

From the morning to the afternoon of this day (9/5/2023), the Center for Communication and Public Information of Universitas Airlangga (PKIP UNAIR) held an important agenda, namely "Forum Group Discussion on Strategies to Improve the Quality of Public Information and Public Relations Services". As a faculty that always wants to provide the best and up to date service, UNAIR Faculty of Pharmacy (FF) of course also sends its staff to participate in this activity.

Taking place at ASEEC Tower UNAIR, the event was held well offline. Presented by two great speakers, namely the first Mr. Yayat Hendayana who is the General Coordinator, Cooperation and Public Relations of the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture. Meanwhile the second resource person was Ms. Siti Ajijah as the Expert Staff of the Central Information Commission.

The first resource person, Mr. Yayat Hidayat, gave a presentation on public relations related materials. He said that currently the work of the PR team has become more important and advanced than before, which was only underestimated. Not only providing information to the public, currently the Public Relations team must also keep abreast of the times and be willing to listen and understand the community so that they can resolve issues that arise. Various strategies and actions that must be taken were conveyed by him in detail, not forgetting that he also shared tips for managing social media.

After the first speaker finished his presentation, it was Mrs. Siti Ajijah's turn to give an explanation regarding public information. Many people do not know that the public has the right to know some information from an agency or company, one of the highlights is the financial statements, which have been audited of course. However, Mrs. Siti explained that the information provided was not necessarily provided without filter to the public. Of course there are provisions regulated by law. In addition, public information providers also have the right to carry out a consequence test to determine which information can be published and what is excluded.
