Surabaya - Airlangga University is collaborating with the Indonesian National Drug and Food Control Agency (BPOM) to speed up distribution permit for three products from the Airlangga Research Institute. The three products are seaweed capsule shells, stem cells, and allergens.

With the process of accelerating the distribution permit and assistance from BPOM RI, it is hoped that the product can be mass produced. Head of POM RI, Penny Lukito, said that he has renewed the signing of the cooperation agreement with Universitas Airlangga in the process of accelerating the distribution permit for the products being developed.

"Always in the duty of the POM Agency is to accelerate licensing. We do a lot of licensing in the process of getting marketing authorization. There are products that must be tested first to see the aspects of safety, their usefulness, their quality. And we continue to accelerate licensing, now we are developing digitalization," Penny said after signing the text of cooperation with Unair in the Campus C Rectorate building, Wednesday (11/27/2019).

Penny also fully supports Unair in developing research in the field of health.

"In accordance with the vision of the Rector, not only stops at publication, but becomes a useful product. To fill a large number of publications, our health insurance program certainly requires more and more health products," Penny continued.

Penny also claimed, in accelerating the permit process, his party has already accelerated. According to him, in the last five years, his party has given the distribution permit on time.

"Five years ago 50 percent, now 90 percent. We can keep the promise of time service. That can be proven to the one we accompanied," Penny explained.

Meanwhile, Unair Rector Mohammad Nasih said the products produced by universities are not enough only in the laboratory to reach the community. There are still several stages that must be passed, namely mass production and legality of distribution permit.

"Fellows at BPOM really helped us in the process of acceleration and subsequent development. Because we will be more confident in producing useful, quality and legal products, so we don't need to steal to distribute our products," said M Nasih.

Nasih added, this year there were three products that were produced by the Airlangga Research Institute. "This year three, the first shells, stem cells, and allergens are under construction," concluded by M Nasih. (sun / bdh)
