PUI-PT SCT and GGGI Continue Coordination Regarding the Utilization of Fakfak Nutmeg

The PUI-PT Skin Health and Cosmetic Technology (PUI-PT SCT) has resumed coordination with the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) to explore collaboration on the use of Myristica argentea (Fakfak nutmeg, West Papua) for sustainable development. This activity was held online via Zoom Meeting on August 6, 2025.

This meeting was a follow-up to the previous meeting held in person on July 28, 2025, at the Nanizar Zaman Joenoes Building. In this follow-up coordination meeting, the two parties discussed in more detail the potential for research collaboration and a roadmap for developing Fakfak nutmeg derivative products with high added value and that are environmentally friendly.

Through this collaboration, PUI-PT SCT UNAIR demonstrates its commitment to encouraging research based on Indonesia's biodiversity, including from eastern regions such as West Papua. The collaboration with GGGI is expected to have a tangible impact not only on academics and innovation, but also on improving the local economy and preserving the environment.

Discussions will continue in the near future to develop concrete steps for implementing mutually beneficial collaborations between academics, global institutions, and local communities. This collaboration represents a concrete step by Faculty of Agriculture UNAIR in realizing SDGs 17, "Partnership for the Goals."
