Ready for Competency-Based Curriculum for Clinical Pharmacy 2024

Ready for Clinical Pharmacy KBK Thesis 2024

Good news for students who are approaching and preparing for the thesis period, because READY THESIS is back. On Monday, March 9 2024, precisely at 08.00 WIB, the 2024 SKRIPSI READY edition of the Clinical Pharmacy KBK was held. This activity was carried out via Zoom Meeting by presenting lecturers and students as resource persons. This event was hosted by Kak Rofiqi Azmi as moderator by presenting three speakers, one of whom was Mrs. apt. Dinda Monika Nusantara Ratri, S.Farm., M.Farm.Klin. Apart from that, there were also speakers from eighth semester students who are currently doing their thesis in the field of Clinical Pharmacy, namely Ms. Dhea Anggraini and Ms. Syasya. The event was divided into 3 topic presentation sessions. At the end of each presentation, it will be followed by a question and answer session. The event was attended by many students, especially the class of 2021 who are currently in their sixth semester.

The first topic was brought by Mrs. Dinda Monika. Mrs. Dinda explained the history of KBK Clinical Pharmacy. Apart from that, Mrs. Dinda also explained various research topics that could be addressed in the Clinical Pharmacy KBK, starting from Molecular Pharmacology, Drug Metabolism, Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacodynamics, Drug Response Analysis, Drug Use Studies, Biomaterials, Implant Development, Translational Research, to Allergen Extracts . All of these materials are owned by each research team consisting of several lecturers. Each lecturer also has their own field specifications so that later students can adjust their interests to a particular field so that they can be guided by the relevant lecturer.

The second topic was brought by Ms Dhea Anggraini who took a thesis topic about Biomedicine. Sis Dhea herself has an interest in several research topics, namely Biomedical (Addiction), Genetic Engineering (Car-T), and Nanotechnology and Drug Delivery Systems. Biomedical science covers the exploration of pathophysiological mechanisms that produce translational therapeutic outcomes, both molecular and behavioral. Later, when they are involved in this field, students will work with experimental animals, namely rats and mice. Students also learn about the formulation of experiments carried out, carrying out surgery and injections, and understanding molecular expressions. In the process, the thesis in this field consists of several students who are members of one team. Each student has their own topic, including Nicotine Addiction, NAFLD (Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease), PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), Maternal Stress, Stroke, and Allergen Extracts. In its implementation, Sis Dhea also explained the benefits she felt, including improving her ability to work in a team, opening up critical thinking, time management, and increasing curiosity.

The last session was hosted by Syasya. He took a topic in the observational field with the title "Study of Citicholine Drug Use Patterns in Ischemic Stroke Patients" which was carried out at Dr Soetomo Regional Hospital. In the observational field, there are two types of approaches, namely prospective and retrospective. The prospective approach includes information obtained as the research progresses and is oriented towards efforts to predict the subject's future behavior. Meanwhile, the retrospective approach relies on historical data. Syasya also explained the process of implementing the thesis as follows:

  • Contact the lecturer we want to be your thesis supervisor
  • Fill out the thesis form provided in the generation group
  • Wait and check for announcements
  • Create a group with your supervisor and make an appointment to meet
  • Prepare a "thesis proposal" chapters 1-5
  • Proposal seminar
  • Revision and improvement

Syasya also shared her experience in determining the title. We can visit the Clinical Pharmacy KBK to ask for a database of names of students (upper-graders) and their supervisors and also the titles of the theses they submitted to be used as a reference. When we have decided on a topic, we can look for references in the reading room through the thesis archive. Syasya also provided several reference titles, including Study of Drug Use Patterns, Analysis of Prescribing Patterns, Analysis of Side Effects, Analysis of Parenteral Nutrition, Analysis of the Use of Pharmaceutical Supplies and Costs, and Profile of Antibiotic Use and Resistance.

This activity received a lot of enthusiasm from students, especially those who were interested in taking a thesis in the field of Clinical Pharmacy. By carrying out this activity, it is hoped that it will be able to help students have a better idea and answer their curiosity regarding the scope of thesis topics related to the field of Clinical Pharmacy.
