PARTICIPANTS OF THE 3RD INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL AIPHE VISITED WIDYA MANDALA UNIVERSITY AND SURABAYA UNIVERSITY

Monday (29/08/2022) The 3rd International Summer School, Association of Indonesian Pharmacy Higher Education (AIPHE) Year of 2022 paid a visit to the Faculty of Pharmacy, Widya Mandala University. Summer School participants held a laboratory visit and practice making wind oil.

The agenda began by inviting them to tour several laboratories in the Faculty of Pharmacy, Widya Mandala University, such as the phytochemical laboratory, pharmaceutical laboratory, pharmaceutical botanical laboratory and others. International students are also invited to see the various collections of medicinal plants in the Faculty of Pharmacy, Widya Mandala University.

After being invited to tour several laboratories, the participants were invited to take part in the practice of making wind oil. The wind oil made is Gandapura oil with the active ingredient Methyl Salicylate. Gandapura oil functions as a muscle and joint pain reliever. For approximately 30 minutes, international students make the wind oil which can later be taken home as souvenirs.

In addition to a visit to Widya Mandala University, the Summer School Participants were invited to tour the Faculty of Pharmacy building, University of Surabaya. The University of Surabaya (UBAYA) itself is a well-known private university in Surabaya. On the first visit, students were invited to get to know PIOLK. PIOLK is an abbreviation of Center for Drug and Health Service Information which was established by UBAYA in order to facilitate, support and ensure the effectiveness, safety and rationality of treatment through the provision of impartial, commercially unbiased and reviewed information.

After visiting PIOLK, the participants were invited to see and get to know CDEA. CDEA or Center of Drug Evaluation and Analyze is an analytical laboratory that performs physico-chemical, microbiological and heavy metal analysis in the form of pharmaceutical preparations, food, beverages, cosmetics, herbal products, supplements, stones, soil, water, and solid and liquid waste. They walked around while looking at various instruments such as HPLC, Gas Chromatography, and others.

After walking around in the CDEA laboratory, international students were invited to go to the last location, namely the Pharmacy which is outside the Surabaya University complex. This pharmacy is a pharmacy that is managed directly by the University of Surabaya. In this agenda, international students are explained about drug services as a whole. The hope is that the participants will know more about the flow of drug services at the pharmacy.
