Improving Knowledge about Fever through "Fever Dart"

Fever is one of the most common conditions in society. Fever can occur at any age, from infants to the elderly. Characterized by increasing body temperature, fever often triggers panic that causes inappropriate treatment.

To improve knowledge about fever, a health promotion activity was carried out group D-5 of Community Pharmacy, consisting of thirteen students of the Faculty of Pharmacy UNAIR. The aim is to increase public knowledge about fever and how to treat it, including  the use of appropriate antipyretic drugs.

Held on Wednesday (27-11-2019) around the Health Service Center (PLK) in Campus C UNAIR, the health promotion activity took place lively. Going on for three hours starting at one o'clock in the afternoon, this activity succeeded in attracting the enthusiasm of UNAIR academicians.

Using board games as a health promotion medium, group D-5 developed a concept game called "Fever Dart". Like a dart game, or throwing arrows in general, participants were asked to throw arrows toward a board that was divided into sections. In each section, there were questions or challenges related to fever that must be resolved by the participants. Participants were given the opportunity to play three times, then the scores would be accumulated to be exchanged with various attractive prizes.

The choice of board game media aims to provide more information in a fun way. In addition, darts are common in the community, so that participants can more easily follow the course of the game.

Besides participating in the game, participants also actively asked about interesting things about fever. Starting from the use of antibiotics to deal with fever, how to position the  compresses correctly, sharing about experiences when the fever did not get better. It is hoped that with this activity, public knowledge about fever can improve. With more information available, the public can handle and treat fever more quickly, precisely, and accurately.
