Exchange Students in Faculty of Pharmacy

UNAIR NEWS – For one month, two foreign students joining Student Exchange Program (SEP) 2016,  Carmen Bohlinger from Germany and Britt Lugenborg from Estonia studied in Faculty of Pharmacy (FF) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR). They were glad that they could participate in the program. Besides internship and study programs, the student from Freiburg also impressed with the hospitality of Indonesian people and its natural beauty.

‘‘I’m glad I could participate in the program, I could observe the diseases treated in hospital shared with others and experienced their hospitality,” said Carmen Bohlinger, the German student.

The event was exciting and attended by some students and SEP 2016 committee. Also present were Vice Dean I FF UNAIR, Dr. Riesta Primaharinastiti, S.Si., M.Si., Apt and Dr.rer.nat. Maria Lucia Ardhani Dwi Lestari, Apt.

“The activity was expected to bring positive impacts and motivated students, so they could participate in the next student exchange program,” said Dr. Riesta,

“Those two foreign students were involved, and they observed the service during internship either in hospital or pharmacy,” said Kartika Dewi Pratiwi who was also in the committee of SEP 2016.

The program has been managed by FF UNAIR for few times and the participants were mostly from European countries, but once in a while there were some from other regions like America, Asia, or Far East. The program has been running well with the cooperation of International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation (IPSF), Indonesian Pharmacy Student Senate Association (Ismafarsi), UNAIR Hospital, Dr. Soetomo General Hospital, Semolowaru Pharmacy, and Nahdha Farma Pharmacy.

Both foreign students took parts in some activities like internship in RSUA, RSUD Dr. Soetomo, and Semolowaru and Nandha Farma pharmacy; visiting FF departments, some facilities in UNAIR like libraries and LPT, also take part in Anniversary events, become a speakers in a talk show,“Creative Pharmacist with Global Perspective”; earn to dance and arts in Student Center Campus C UNAIR and have trips to some places in Malang and Madura.

“The program has been done for 4-5 years, UNAIR Pharmacy students are members of International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation (IPSF), which of course it is simple to invite foreign students here,” added Kartika Dewi Lestari. (*)
