THE 3RD INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL ASSOCIATION OF INDONESIAN PHARMACY HIGHER EDUCATION YEAR OF 2022: THE SOUL OF JAMU AND BROMO

The event, which carries the title “The Soul of Jamu and Bromo Remedies”, is already on its 6th day. The series of activities from The 3rd International Summer School Association of Indonesian Pharmacy Higher Education Year of 2022 was held on August 23, 2022, in the 1st Floor Hall of Nanizar Zaman Joenoes Building, Zoom Meeting, and broadcast via APTFI digital channel, Faculty of Pharmacy Universitas Airlangga in the form of online webinars. This webinar presents 2 speakers from universities in Indonesia.

The opening of the webinar was filled by Retry Sinansari from Widya Mandala Catholic University Surabaya in the 1st Floor Hall of Nanizar Zaman Joenoes Building. Then, the material session was moderated by Agung Pangaribowo from the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Jember. The first material, namely “Jamu, Indonesia's Traditional Medicine: Past, Present, and Future” was delivered by apt. Endah Puspitasari, S.Farm., M.Sc from the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Jember. Submission of material through Zoom Meeting which was broadcast live in Hall 1 Floor of Nanizar Zaman Joenoes Building. The speaker in his presentation emphasized the aspects that are a requirement that an herbal medicine must be safe, quality, and useful. Not only the theoretical form, but the speaker also showed a short video on the correct way to make herbal medicine. The material presented is detailed enough so that it can sharpen the participants' insight.

Furthermore, the second material, namely "The Phytocompounds and Herbs for Immunomodulators" was delivered by Dr. apt. Martha Ervina, S.Si, M.Si from the Faculty of Pharmacy, Widya Mandala Catholic University. The delivery of this second material was carried out directly in the 1st Floor Hall of the Nanizar Zaman Joenoes Building. The material presented leads to the mechanism of traditional medicine (jamu) in the immune system. If it is related to the current condition, namely the COVID-19 pandemic which has not yet ended, herbal medicine can be used as an alternative to prevent transmission and maintain immunity. Clear delivery and quality information can attract the attention of participants to find out more about the benefits of herbal medicine.

After the material was given for approximately 75 minutes each, there was a discussion session that gave the audience the opportunity to ask questions and be answered by the two speakers. After that, there is a quiz session that must be done by all participants as a form of proof of participation and feedback for future events. The discussion session went well, proving that all participants were focused, enthusiastic, and enthusiastic about participating in the 6th day of the webinar.

After the entire series of events was completed, the webinar activity ended with the handover of certificates by the moderator to the two speakers. The presenter then reads out the agenda for the next day, then closes the program with wisdom.
