THESE ARE THE BENEFITS OF OLIVE OIL WHICH ARE FAMOUS AROUND THE COUNTRY

Olive oil may be very familiar to people all over the world. Even though it doesn't come from Indonesia, olive oil is well known in this country.

In addition to coconut oil and almond oil, information about the benefits of natural ingredients, especially in the form of oil, was reiterated by one of the professors of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Airlangga (FF UNAIR), Prof. Dr. apt. Mangestuti Agil, MS. First of all, he explained in advance about the types of olive oil.

Prof. Mangestuti explained that there are two types of olive oil, namely extra-virgin olive oil and virgin olive oil. Extra-virgin olive oil is made by cold-pressing olives. This method results in less damage and contamination of ingredients. Meanwhile, virgin olive oil is made through a combination of cold-press and manufacturing methods. The quality of olive oil made by cold pressing is better and can be consumed directly. Virgin olive oil is more appropriate to use as cooking oil.

Turning to the properties, olive oil has been shown to lower blood pressure for those who consume it regularly. That's because the main content of olive oil is a fatty acid as much as 98 percent, namely oleic acid. This is a fat that includes monounsaturated fatty acids, namely unsaturated fatty acids.

In addition, Olive Oil can also reduce oxidative damage. Previous studies of healthy men and postmenopausal women found reduced oxidative damage to cell nuclei after consuming olive oil. Allegedly, this condition occurs due to the antioxidant effect of olive oil's phenolic compounds.

Olive oil is also considered to be able to cure rheumatoid arthritis or joint pain if consumed at certain doses. In addition, olive oil also has anti-inflammatory properties, namely decreasing the secretion of inflammatory agents.
