RELATED TO PLASTIC PACKAGING PRODUCTS CONTAINING BPA, BPOM MAKE SURE TO PROTECT THE COMMUNITY

The issue of Bisphenol A (BPA) is not only a local or national issue, but has become an international issue. Some countries have even regulated and carried out BPA labeling on bottled drinking water (AMDK).

So far, BPOM admits that it has made various efforts in accordance with the authority it has in accordance with Law Number 2012 concerning Food, and Presidential Regulation Number 80 Year 2017 concerning the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency.

BPA in bottled drinking water is an important study and a priority to become a label on bottled drinking water. There are several things that are considered by the POM, namely: First, water is a basic need for human survival and is consumed by all age groups. Second, the production volume of bottled drinking water is quite large, which is as much as 21 billion liters per year, or as much as 70% of the volume of bottled drinking water per year.

Third, the number of consumers of bottled bottled drinking water is 50,204,403 (more than 50 million) people or 18% of Indonesia's population in 2020. Fourth, bottled drinking water is the most registered product in Indonesia, and 96.4% of gallon bottled drinking water products using polycarbonate plastic.
