Pharma TM (Traditional Medicine) Day

Health Promotion is one of the government programs that becomes an obligation of every health profession to be involved in it. Therefore, UNAIR pharmacist student candidates also participated in organizing health promotion activities at PLK (Health Service Center) in Campus B UNAIR in Surabaya on 25 November 25 2019. This activity became one of the topics of the Community Pharmacy (Farmasy) course, known as Pharmaday and became a form of community service conducted by UNAIR students.

This Pharmaday activity was held in the morning, starting at 9 to 12. The activity carried out was an explanation of material about traditional medicine (TM) to several patients who were waiting in line. Initially, patients who came needed to fill in the attendance list of standard Pharmaday first. Then, while waiting for the queue for inspection, we provided important information related to the class and vigilance of traditional drugs to check BPOM clicks using the help of flip charts. Two flip charts had been prepared, and then the group members took turns explaining the material to patients who came to PLK. During the material explanation process, some communities were also enthusiastic to provide responses or questions. Furthermore, as an evaluation of pharmaday activities we gave questionnaires to patients. The questionnaires were then exchanged for coupon questions with prizes at the stand. Patients who could answer the questions were given a gift.

Pharmaday that has been implemented is going well, and based on the attendance, there were many people participating. In addition, from the several questions given, many were able to answer correctly. However, some patients who came also did not want to get an explanation for several reasons, including being in a rush to take the queue, was busy, and also because they had been called to enter the poly. Apart from these obstacles, the explanation related to TM can be well received and it is hoped that in the future the community can be more aware, able to choose, and use traditional medicine appropriately.
